Design
For me, my appreciation for design and creating cohesive esthetic spaces started with my mother. She has fabulous taste and a golden touch that can turn something ordinary into something beyond extraordinary! She has a gift that I have watched my whole life….
A “home” should be a reflection of self. Something for you and others to enjoy and feel secure and comfortable within. Many people struggle with colors or accessories… when the issue at hand is more the flow of the space. Cohesiveness is key in design. And what you get from it, what you put into it… especially in regard to making it personal.
There is something about a well constructed, finely embellished space that gives me a sense of security and indulgence that is palpable. I love “stuff” and no matter how many times I read “Buddhism for Dummies,” I still want stuff! I don’t really see that changing…. but I am getting better about accepting it.
My partner (Allan) and I have a business relationship too. He is an Interior Designer by trade… and we dabble in that together, often! He predominately takes extremely good care of our home, furry children and lives…. but has skill beyond mine in regards to organization and design. We make a great team and always have fun…. and , for us, that is paramount!
A lot of design for me is inspiration and that is what I hope to share here. Things, designs, art, ideas and the occasional “What were they thinking” moments that I hope will help guide you to designing a space that is special enough for you to want to share it with others.
