Wine

I fell in love with wine at a Bordeaux dinner given by Master Sommelier, Randa Warren. It was an “Ice wine” kind of  January evening, now several years back, in which Randa’s table was filled with my family and friends… a Christmas gift given to me by my Godmother (the most fabulous gift giver!)

Randa started the evening with an hour presentation on the Bordeaux region of France and I could tell she was speaking my language. I knew little about wine previous to this evening, except for the countless bottles that I had tried and generally, didn’t love. That’s when it hit me… this was cooler than I had ever thought and when I knew more about the wine… it tasted better.

So I started learning…. and as I have discovered, this journey is delightfully, unending! It is a vast world that can sometimes be completely overwhelming and intimidating. For most people, the work that it takes to absorb this amount of info rather than the liquid itself… isn’t appealing. For me… I combine the two!

I came in 3rd in my class of around 50 wine lovers. It was quite an honor and especially since my mentor was one of the 3 Masters’ present for the session.  I learned more in that class than I ever dreamed…seriously I had a knowledge headache for two days…. and it wasn’t a hangover!

So… all that to say…. I love world of wine and look forward to sharing it with you, in terms that are easy to understand and hopefully, entertaining at the same time! I mean you pee 95% of it out the next morning… so really… you can’t take it that seriously!
